The list of local attractions are endless, but here are just a few suggestions: Teddington Lock and the River Thames, Hampton Court Palace, Strawberry Hill House, Bushy Park, Eel Pie Island, Marble Hill House, Ham House, Richmond Park, Twickenham Rugby stadium, Richmond, Kingston.
Clapperstile Gate (five minutes’ walk) is the closest entrance to Bushy Park, or it's ten minutes' walk to the main gate at Chestnut Avenue. It takes around 30 minutes to walk across to Hampton Court.
The river walks to Richmond and Kingston are nearby. Stop at Petersham Nurseries near Richmond, or The Boaters Inn close to Kngston on the way.
For drivers, there is limited free parking in the nearby roads and there is a pay and display car park next to the house.
For those wanting to eat in, Tesco Express (opening hours 06:00 – 00:00 Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 22:00 Saturday, and 11:00 – 17:00 Sunday) is less than a minute away. There is an M&S Simply Food on the High Street and several excellent bakeries nearby.
Getting around is very easy if you're happy to use the excellent public transport system. Teddington mainline station (for Twickenham, Richmond, Wimbledon and 30 mins to central London) is five minutes’ walk, with eight trains per hour to London Waterloo. The last train leaves Waterloo just before 1am, so there's plenty of time after the theatre if you don't want to take a cab. The Broad Street bus stop to Heathrow, Kingston, Hampton Court, Richmond and Twickenham is a minute away.
